Front Yard Veggies

You can’t grow everything you eat, but you can eat everything you grow…

Peak oil much?

Peak oil much?

This is not really a veggie post, but people who grow their own food
typically like talking about oil/energy/conservation/etc, so I proceed.

I work in Signal Hill, which is the site of an early oil boom in the
20’s and the place was literally covered in oil wells.

Now there are simply remnants of this industry in the form of the
pumpjacks in parking lots throughout the city that produce a couple
barrels of oil a day.

Recently I have seen a number of the tall assemblies showing up in
spots where a pump was not previously active. I can only imagine that
at $120/barrel many of these spots are becoming quite a bit more
profitable. Clearly someone expects this to be the case for some
time…
